Seasoned Rice & Roti Mix
Updated: Nov 8, 2024
We call this – ‘Fodanichi Poli ani Bhaat’ in Marathi language. Fodni means seasoning. Whenever there is any left-over rice or Rotis, I make this often as we enjoy eating it for breakfast or lunch. It is common with Maharashtrian folks.
It is made by making small pieces of Rotis with your hands and mixing it with rice before adding the seasoning. It’s simple and easy to make :)
Cooking time -20 minutes Serves -4
Ingredients:-
- 2 cups Rice (cooked)
- 6 Rotis (cut in small pieces)
- 1 tablespoon Peanuts (plain or roasted)
- A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
- 2 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Jeera (Cumin seeds)
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 sprig of Curry leaves (8-9 leaves)
- 1 small Onion finely chopped.
- 4 green Chilies (6 if you want spicy)
- ¼ teaspoon Haldi (Turmeric powder)
- ¼ teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt (or add according to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ lemon juice
- Chopped coriander/cilantro leaves.
Method:-
1. Mix crushed rotis and rice well and keep aside.
2. In a Pan add oil. Then add seasoning in this order- Hing, mustard, jeera, peanuts.
3. Add curry leaves, chilies, onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add Haldi, chili powder, salt and sauté for few seconds.
5. Add the roti and rice mixture. Mix all and cover it with a lid for 4-5minutes.
