Spicy Shrimps
Updated: Nov 8, 2024
This is one spicy way of making dry shrimps which is full of flavor and enjoyed by all who love seafood. I make them with frozen, tail off, peeled and deveined raw shrimps which are available at any big grocery stores. I like making this quick and easy method which can be eaten as an appetizer or with Parathas.
Cooking time - 20 minutes Serves - 4
Ingredients:-
- 1-pound Shrimps (frozen & deveined)
- 3 green chillies
- 1 teaspoon garlic chopped.
- 8-10 Curry leaves(kadipatta)
- 2 tablespoon oil
- Asafoetida (hing) a pinch
- 1/4th teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/4th teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1/4th teaspoon jeera (cumin)
- 1/4th teaspoon turmeric powder (Haldi)
- ½ teaspoon salt (or add according to taste)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon jeera powder
- ½ teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dry chutney Pudi (optional )
- Chopped coriander/cilantro leaves.
- ½ lemon juice
- A pinch of Black Pepper
Method:-
1- In a saucepan heat oil on medium heat and add the seasonings in this order- Hing, mustard, jeera, fennel seeds. Let it crackle for few seconds.
2- Add curry leaves, green chilies, garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes.
3- Add washed Shrimps with turmeric, red chili, salt to pan. Sauté for 3-4 minutes
4- Add pepper and lemon juice. Cook for 5 minutes by stirring often.
5- Remove in a serving bowl. Sprinkle chutney Pudi.
6- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with lemon and onion slices.
Note - I sprinkle dry idli/dosa pudi while serving. Its tasty even minus that. Lemon juice gives a tangy flavor which can be added according to your taste buds. Shrimps being a seafood needs less salt.
